Baton Rouge Roof Replacement: Tis the Season

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, Santa Claus…and a new roof. That’s right a new roof . Of course there is a lot of hustle and bustle around the holidays, but if you’ve been putting off a roof repair or replacement, this may be the time of the year to do so. So in between stocking the pantry for the Thanksgiving dinner and stuffing stockings over the fireplace, here are three reasons to consider having your roof replaced this winter instead of waiting until spring.

1.) Less landscaping damage: With the cooler temperatures in our area, most shrubs and flowers are dormant. With less foliage and blooms, much less damage is likely to occur. Even your yard will hibernate to an extent, making it much less susceptible to the materials and tools that will rest and fall upon it.

2.) Shingle granules wear slower: Asphalt shingles are embedded with tiny ceramic granules. These granules make the shingles waterproof. The heat of the summer causes the asphalt to expand and these granules come loose much easier. When this happens there is immediate wear to your brand new roof. However the cooler temperatures of fall and winter help the asphalt remain contracted, holding on to these granules.

3.) Higher visibility of problems: Just as with your landscaping, the trees around your Baton Rouge home or business are also losing leaves and thinning out. With this improved visibility, you can get a better view of any problem areas on your roof. This can make estimates more accurate. Also with the trees in a more dormant state, any corrections to prevent future damage can be made much easier.
