Cribbs, Inc Roofing and Sheet Metal wants you to know the three common mistakes made when a homeowner is analyzing the condition of their roof.

1. Analyze the condition of the roof based on one side or section of the home.

An interesting fact that is rarely thought about is, the south facing shingles receive more exposure to damaging UV rays emitted by the Sun than North facing shingles do.  Shingles on North facing slopes will therefore indeed remain in better condition than South facing ones for a much longer time.  Additionally, signles that are in valleys of the roof have more water flowing through them, and this causes a quicker deterioration.  Therefore, the shingles in the aforementioned areas will show quicker signs of erosion than the others.

If your roof looks great when your looking from your backyard, you may be fooled by just a small area.  Take a look at the shingles near your eaves trough in a valley of a South facing side of your upper roof. At Cribbs Inc. Roofing and Sheet Metal, we will come to your home and analyze these areas of concern for you.

Our roofing specialists have been analyzing the rooftops of the Greater Baton Rouge area for more than 60 years. Consistently,  we inspect roofs which look good in one spot, and look poor in another.  When determining the overall condition of a roof, remember to consider the overall roof, and not just a small section.

2. Like anything else, don't choose your roofing contractor because they are the cheapest.

Remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for"? When you are discussing the category of Roofing Baton Rouge, there is no statement that is more true.  There is nothing more important to your home than the investment in your roof, so please try to avoid the temptation of going with the cheapest bid on your roof.

Remember, fixing roof problems can costs a lot more than preventing them.  Read our article , Roofing Contractors Baton Rouge, to ensure your working with a professional who knows the South Louisiana area. Even if you don't choose us to do your roof, the article will help you make an informed decision.

3. Take your time and don't rush into a quick decision

It is important to take your time when making decisions about your house.  Make sure you research the roofing company, so that the work is done right the first time.

Yes, important choices will have to be made when you replace your roof.  There's choosing materials, choosing a contractor, selecting a warrantee, overseeing the work etc.  The most annoying mistakes are the ones that were avoidable.  Take your time and do this properly, so you will have the peace of mind moving forward that you have the best contractor for the roof of your home.

There's no need to rush your decisions unnecessarily.  Take the time to educate yourself a bit about our industry.  At Cribbs Incorporated Roofing and Sheet Metal, we just want to make sure the decision you make for your home is the RIGHT one.
